Chuy Lizarraga Atlanta Concert reviews
Doobie's Great, Venue Not
The Doobies played their "classics" and some new songs, as good as always. They all looked good and appeared to be enjoying themselves, despite the warmth on the stage. Seats were uncomfortably close together, narrow, hard plastic chairs connected with plastic wire ties. No cup holders. Beverage vendors were plentiful, but restroom access required a trek through the smoky casino (a block away). We only attended this concert at Thunder Valley once, and it will be the last. The casino had four restaurants, but when we arrived at 6:45 for an 8:00 show, we couldn't dine until after the performance had started. Having to settle for pizza in the food court, standing and waiting for a table while our food turned cold, was not the ideal start to a music event. The venue fell short of our expectations, especially coming from an area with exceptional venues.
